Sachin Tendulkar and Shikar Dhawan hammered half-centuries as Mumbai secured a comfortable five-wicket home victory over Chennai.
Suresh Raina, freed of the captaincy burden with the return of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, smashed an unbeaten 83 and together with Subramaniam Badrinath (55 not out) added 142 in an unbeaten third-wicket stand for the third wicket to power Chennai to 180 for two
But that total proved insufficient as Tendulkar hit 72 and Dhawan made 56 as Mumbai overhauled the target with a full over to spare.
Muralidaran bowled well getting 2 wickets for 32 runs in his 4 overs, but that could not prevent a Mumbai victory.
Chennai captain MS Dhoni said Mumbai played very well and there are a few loopholes that Chennai can plug. Mumbai skipper Sachin Tendulkar said Dhawan played a very good innings and that personally, he was satisfied with his own innings.
