First runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, and Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell finished second. Miss USA Rima Fakih, who was one of the hot favourites, failed to make it to the top 15.

Navarrete is Mexico's second Miss Universe after Lupita Jones in 1991.
22-year-old Jimena Navarrete won the Miss Universe crown by stressing on
the importance of relationship with kids and on upholding the family values.
